We already know how your sector makes and loses money
Every trade has its own traps. Knowing them in advance is the difference between an accountant who records your year and one who improves it.
Construction and trades
CIS verification and monthly returns, the VAT domestic reverse charge, retentions held for months and profit measured job by job rather than in one annual lump.
Related service →Contractors and freelancers
A clean company, an efficient salary and dividend split, expenses that stand up to scrutiny and an awareness of how the engagement is contracted.
Related service →Property landlords and investors
Rental profits calculated correctly, finance cost relief applied properly, 60 day CGT returns on residential disposals and honest advice on ownership structure.
Related service →Recruitment agencies
The gap between paying contractors weekly and being paid by clients monthly is the whole business. Cash flow forecasting and payroll at volume are what we focus on.
Related service →Freelancers and the self-employed
A simple, well kept record of income and expenses, the right allowances claimed, and a Self Assessment return filed early enough that the tax bill is never a surprise.
Related service →Start-ups and growing SMEs
The right structure at the outset, sensible forecasting, and someone to talk to before you hire, borrow or take on premises.
Related service →Hospitality and retail
Tight margins, stock, wastage, tips and troncs, mixed VAT rates and weekly payroll. Regular figures matter far more here than an annual set of accounts.
Related service →Professional and creative services
Work in progress, billing cycles, director remuneration and pricing that keeps pace with the cost of delivery.
Related service →Healthcare professionals
Locum and private income alongside employment, pension annual allowance issues for higher earners, and tax returns that pull it all together correctly.

Polish-owned businesses trading in the UK
A large part of our client base is Polish entrepreneurs running limited companies, construction firms and trades businesses in the UK. We work with you in Polish when that is easier, and switch to English for anything that needs to go to HMRC or Companies House in a specific form.
The questions are usually the same ones: whether to trade as a sole trader or a limited company, how CIS deductions actually work, how to bring money back to Poland tax efficiently, and what changes when a director splits time between both countries. We answer them plainly, in the language you're most comfortable using.

Construction focus
Construction is where most of the penalties we see come from
A missed nil CIS return costs £100. A subcontractor paid before verification usually means deducting at 30 per cent and an awkward conversation. The reverse charge applied wrongly leads to an assessment, often for a quarter's worth of VAT.
We run the monthly routine to the same dates every month so none of that happens, and report profit by contract so you can see which jobs are actually earning.
CIS and construction accounting →Tell us what you do and we will tell you what usually goes wrong
A 20-minute call, no charge and no obligation. We will look at where you are, what HMRC expects next and what a sensible fixed fee looks like.
